Virtual Tour ~ Wolf’s Clothing by EJ Russell ~ (Guest Post + Giveaway)

Virtual Tour ~ Wolf’s Clothing by EJ Russell ~ (Guest Post + Giveaway)

When I signed my first contract with Riptide Publishing, it was for two books in the Legend Tripping series. Book one, Stumptown Spirits, was already completed and ready to go to edits, but the second book, Wolf’s Clothing, was nothing more than a 500-word proposal.

Eeeek! Time to get to work!

One of the first things I had to do was fill out my cover art requests for both books—including descriptions of the main characters. I always like to “cast” my main characters before I start writing, so it’s easier for me to describe them. I’d been living with Riley and Logan for months by that time, and had already cast them as Stiles and Derek from Teen Wolf. (Here’s my Pinterest board, in case you’re a Sterek fan too ;-) : https://www.pinterest.com/ejrussell/stumptown-spirits/ )

Since Trent was a secondary character in Stumptown, I’d already thought about him a bit, and went searching for pictures of blond actors who looked troubled/tortured. I found Lucas Till and bonus! He was wearing a hoodie in one picture (one of Trent’s go-to clothing choices).

Then I needed to cast Christophe. Since he’s a werewolf because of a genetic mutation, I thought “Where can I find mutants?” Well, X-Men was the obvious choice. Besides, I loved James McAvoy’s seedy, defeated Charles Xavier in Days of Future Past—he had the longish hair and beard, a little on the reddish side, that I pictured for Christophe. Bingo.

It wasn’t until later that I realized Lucas Till was also in the X-Men movies. D’oh. So while Stumptown Spirits was the Teen Wolf homage, Wolf’s Clothing—the book with actual werewolves—was all about the X-Men.

So what movie did I pick for Trent and Christophe to watch together in Trent’s hotel room? You guessed it—X-Men: Days of Future Past. What can I say? It seemed like fate.

About Wolf’s Clothing

What do you do when you finally prove the existence of the otherworld, but the ghosts kick your ass?

For Trent Pielmeyer, the answer is run like hell—away from his hostile family, away from the disbelieving cops, and far, far, far away from anything that smacks of the supernatural. After seven years’ captivity in a whacked-out alternate dimension, he is so over legend tripping.

When Christophe Clavret spots Trent in a Portland bar, he detects a kindred spirit—another man attempting to outrun the darkness of his own soul. But despite their sizzling chemistry, Trent’s hatred of the uncanny makes Christophe hesitant to confide the truth: he’s a werewolf, one of a dwindling line, the victim of a genetic curse extending back to feudal Europe.

But dark forces are at work, threatening more than their growing love. If Christophe can’t win Trent’s trust, and if Trent can’t overcome his fear of the paranormal, the cost could be Trent’s freedom and Christophe’s humanity. Or it might be both their lives.

E.J. Russell holds a BA and an MFA in theater, so naturally she’s spent the last three decades as a financial manager, database designer, and business-intelligence consultant. After her twin sons left for college and she no longer spent half her waking hours ferrying them to dance class, she returned to her childhood love of writing fiction. Now she wonders why she ever thought an empty nest meant leisure.

E.J. lives in rural Oregon with her curmudgeonly husband, the only man on the planet who cares less about sports than she does. She enjoys visits from her wonderful adult children, and indulges in good books, red wine, and the occasional hyperbole.
