Mathieu Beresford was so close to seeing his dream come true.

The thirty-eight-year-old captain of the Buffalo Surge had led his team to the final round of the playoffs with his aggressive defensive play and leadership. During the first game of the championship series, he was taken down, and his leg snapped upon impact with the boards. From his hospital bed, Mathieu watched his team go on to win it all.

Adrift in anger, resentment, and the new direction of his life, he returns to his mansion along the St. Lawrence River. Alone and sulking, Mathieu is not prepared for Indigo Neu to enter his life. The genderflux twenty-year-old botany major signs on to play nursemaid, confidant, and groundskeeper over the summer and slowly leads Mathieu out of his confusion—one tender smile and touch at a time.

The deeper Mathieu falls, the more he wonders if being lost might not be so bad after all.

Lost in Indigo is book 1 in this new series by VL Locey, Colors of Love.

Mat's leg is broken during the first game of the championship series, making him step down temporarily as the captain of the Buffalo Surge hockey team and go back to his mansion along the St. Lawrence River to lick his wounds and heal from his fracture in time to rejoin his team for the pre-practice season.

The last thing Mat expected was to be so attracted to his house's caretaker's son, Indigo Neu, who is genderflux and fabulous and almost half Mat's age. While Mat is gay, he's not out to anyone and the thought of coming out and becoming the poster boy for gay rights on his team is not even a blip on his radar. Being faced with the decision of coming out or losing Indigo might be more difficult than he could imagine.

Okay, so I liked Mat, he was sarcastic, down-to-earth and self-deprecating and his inner musings were amusing most of the time. He was also frustrating as all hell and I wanted to take a sledgehammer and break his other leg several times during the second half of this book. Really, I could understand why he was still in the closet, especially after meeting the team's owner, who was a piece of work, but I hated that he would tell Indigo that he loved that Indigo was himself and that he was fine with it and then tried to hide what they were to each other or that he would go all hot and cold at the drop of a hat. Grrr, argh!!!

I loved Indigo, he was 18 years younger than Mat, but at times, he seemed the more mature of the two of them. He was unapologetically himself and I loved that about him. Be it that he felt feminine or more masculine on any given day, he just was.

The chemistry between Indigo and Mat was off-the-charts and I loved them together, when Mat wasn't being difficult that is. I loved that after the big blowout, Indigo just took Mat back, but actually made him work for it. It was refreshing to see Indigo refuse to back down.

I loved both Fran, Mat's friend, and Montclair, Indigo's dad, who was just amazing and while he didn't quite understand Indigo, he accepted and supported his son a hundred percent. I also liked Arn, Mat's agent, who came across as a bit of an insensitive jerk at first, but really came through for Mat when he needed him.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, despite my love/hate relationship with Mat, LOL. It was fun and entertaining, hot and sweet, with some angst thrown in for good measure. Very recommendable!
