Snow, steam, and secrets.
When Jude Devereaux—on the run from a domineering lover—seeks shelter at a secluded Alaskan cabin, unable to make it to town before the blizzard hits, suspicious SOB Hutch is naturally wary, but Jude isn’t just gorgeous, he’s funny and smart and flirtatious. Good things happen over the three days they’re snowed in, and by the time the storm clears, Hutch finds himself a little too attached.
But is Jude who he claims? The last thing Hutch wants is to re-enter the world of espionage and violence he came to Alaska to escape, but the threat to Jude is unthinkable. Hutch refuses to let anything bad happen... even if it means delving into secrets Hutch thought were hidden for good.
I don't want to give anything away about what happens in this book, and if you read the blurb, let me tell you the author is giving nothing away! I was a little distracted at first because I thought this story seemed similar to another I read about a couple snowed in together. Let me tell you, that is the only similarity between those two books. As this is the first book I've read by this author, and add in the beginning of this story, I totally was expected an instalove, happily ever, sappy, sweet romance. Whew, there may have been a HEA, but let me tell you nothing came easy in this story. Seriously, you're going to have to read/listen this book (and that's no hardship) to understand this review!
Hutch's secretiveness hides a man of immense skills, grief and talents. Jude's beautiful exterior hides a man of hidden depths, fears and skills. Together the men will find a beautiful love and an even more beautiful future that we get to see. Honestly, this is such a well-written written story, that it doesn't take long to pull you into it, and then you finding yourself rushing through to see what's going to happen next. It's one of those situations that I didn't want the story to end but I couldn't wait to get to the end because I had to know what happened. This is a must read!!
The narrator of this story was John Solo and I thought he did a terrific job for a story that was more than expected. This was not a simple story and was very action packed, and the narrator did a good job of narrating through all that happens in this. His pacing, tone, and voices were well done and allowed me to focus on the story and the action that was taking place. There were no weird pauses, or long pauses that would make me check to make sure everything was still running. The narrator brought these characters and story to life and was able to hold his own on an exceptional story.

I haven't listened to any audio books they are just not my thing!
ReplyDeleteHard to choose, I've listened to many great ones. But, I'll go with A Place Called Winter by Patrick Gale. Interestingly, he also did the narration.
ReplyDeleteI'm not an audio book fan.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind Christmas in July books, and I'm too impatient to appreciate serials. I like stories to connect but stand alone.
ReplyDeleteI have this on audio and cannot wait to listen to it!
ReplyDeleteI haven't listened to any audio books yet
ReplyDeleteSo far from what I've given a listen to it been any Joel Leslie narration. I especially love Lightning Struck Heart.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great review. I love history, and Lincoln, so I'm going to go against the grain and pick a nonfiction, non-glbtq - Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, by Doris Kearns Goodwin, Suzanne Toren (Narrator)
ReplyDeleteThere's no way I could say I have just one favorite audio book.
ReplyDeleteNever hear audiobook before. I prefer music for my audio entertainment
ReplyDeleteI like Christmas in July, so many giveaways, lol. I like sequel-series if they are few books, never-ending series are not my favorite. Yes, I've met a couple of interesting people. And others not so much. I've never listened to any audiobooks.
