The night Nick Henderson storms into Martelli’s Pizzeria, he’s just looking for something to eat. Along with dinner, he finds Lou Martelli—pizza cook extraordinaire and Jersey Shore native. Nick is renting a Shore house for the winter while taking classes at the local community college as he devises a way to escape the accounting major his father chose for him.

Nick and Lou meet while Nick is looking desperately for something to eat one night. Lou takes one look at Nick and invites him in to his family's Pizzeria on the Jersey Shore, where Nick is staying for the winter, while attending college, to share his dinner.
This was an enjoyable read that was sweet, passionate and sexy. It's well-written and paced well, with relatively low angst. The main characters were likable as were the secondary characters. Nick and Lou had a great chemistry and it translated into hot and sweet sex, once they)m hit the sheets.
Hurricane Sandy offered an interesting backstory, told from the POV of the residents that lived through it, without taking over the story.
This was a really enjoyable, yet quick and easy read. Really recommendable!!

Nick is renting a house on the Jersey Shore to get away from his domineering father and taking classes at the community college. Nick's father has pressured him to major in accounting and Nick has no interest in the path his father has laid out for him. He's using his time away to decide what he wants for his future. After a night of studying, Nick is starving and goes into a local pizzeria looking for something to eat. The pizza place is closed, but Lou, the cook, warms him up something to eat. He came from a large Italian family and everyone worked in the family pizzeria. Nick also had a very dominant father that felt things should be done a certain way. Both men have to stand up to their fathers and decide what was best for themselves. The men decide to take it slow by dating, that is until Mother Nature forces them to live together closely because of a hurricane. Nick and Lou will have to figure out what they want for themselves and from each other.
This is a novella, so everything happens quickly in the relationship, but it didn't really feel like an instalove story to me. Don't get me wrong, it is, but it didn't have that rushed feel of immediate love. Nick and Lou went on normal dates and learned about each other. They spent time together outside of a bedroom. I loved that there was no angst or drama about the characters being gay from their families! I enjoyed both characters and thought the story was very well-written. It was easy to lose myself in the story, and it gave good insight about living through Hurricane Sandy from someone's perspective who was there. This was a sweet, low angst story that you won't regret spending a few hours reading!
