Nick and Barb are best friends who after graduation and Nick receiving an inheritance, go to New York in hopes of opening a theater. The two meet Ross and Rudy and while navigating the trial and tribulations of achieving their dream, they also find themselves on an adventure in love.
While I found the story entertaining and different, I had a hard time being pulled into what was going on. From the beginning I found that while the writing was very well done and thought out, the dialogue seemed stilted and flowery, as well as too formal or dramatic. At first, I thought it was because both Nick and Barb are theater people but then it just became a bit irritating to me. I didn't find it realistic and it made it hard to connect with the characters the way I'd hoped.
There are some very funny moments throughout the book and I loved the relationship between Nick and Barb as well as Nick and Ross. I was able to see in my head the world the author had created and truly felt saddened that I didn't love it more. This is one of those books I think you have to be in the mood for and I may just not have clicked with it.
