I have to admit I am not a huge fan of ménage, it’s
simply not my cup of tea, I guess. I find that a relationship between two men
is difficult enough without adding a third one into the mix. That said, I’ve
read a few, including Misfits, in which I haven’t hated the idea.
Tom and Cass have been partners in life and business
for what feels like forever, maintaining an open relationship that works for
them. When Tom meets Jake, a young waiter with TS who he can’t stop thinking
about, the dynamics of Tom and Cass’s relationship change a bit, though, as
they need to decide if there’s a place for Jake in their lives.
I liked the three men individually. They were as
different as they could be. I loved Jake and I admired his strength of
character and the way he dealt with his Tourette’s. I think Garrett Leigh did a
great job at portraying him and with her research on his condition. I loved
Tom, as well, and I really liked that he tried to keep a balance of how he
treated both Cass and Jake so neither would feel left out in their
unconventional relationship, especially at first. I liked Cass, but I think the
story would’ve been better, if we’d had a bit more in his POV than just the
Epilogue. He was such a broken character, I would’ve loved to get to know more
of his inner thoughts.
I really loved Jake and Tom together and while I liked
Jake and Cass, too, I think they were a bit too similar and I felt like Tom and
Cass should’ve fixed some of their own problems before including a third person
into their relationship. However, I do admit that Jake seemed like a good fit
for them, and they were hot together, so there’s that.
All in all, this was a very good read, which focused
more on the relationship-building than on the sex, which was a nice touch, with
very likable characters and a solid storyline that I thoroughly enjoyed. Very
recommendable!
