I Got the Music in Me
Hi there! My name is V.L. Locey and I’m thrilled to be here today! In case you’re not familiar with me I’m an MM romance author, primarily hockey romance, but I do also write non-sporty contemporary, paranormal, and mythological gay romances. Today we’re going to talk a bit about music and writing.
When I asked my readers group what they’d like to know about for this blog post, one of the replies was that they wanted to know what music I listened to when I wrote. Since I don’t listen to music when I write, that would have been an incredibly short post. I’m one of those authors who must lock themselves in a sound-proof cave when I’m creating. No music, no TV, no talking husbands. Nothing. Maybe a purring cat at my side but that’s it.
I do, however, make play lists for each character that I write. I find that knowing what kind of music my character like helps me get a better feel of them. With Sander March I discovered that his musical tastes run to the contemporary pop, indie rock, and indie R&B. Here are a few songs from his list:

The path to happiness isn’t going to be easy for Sander as he faces criticism from his friends, teammates, and the press for his choices. The brash young star can handle all that, it’s when his abuser shows up in Cayuga that Sander fears not only for his own safety, but for the lives of the two men he has grown to love. Will Sander’s past tear him away from Mateo and Noah, or will he be able to leave the darkness behind?
