A friends-to-lovers novella that came from Out of the Shadows, because Nate and Dylan needed a story….
Nate and Dylan have been pals for a long time. So what if their friends think they’ve got a little bromance going? Doesn’t mean there’s anything more to it than that, right? And even if there is, Nate and Dylan are totally oblivious….

Until the night they share a drunken kiss—and everything changes.

4.5 stars for the book

4 stars for the narration

This book is a shorter novella that’s a spin-off from the book “Out of the Shadows” by the K.C. Wells. With that being said, I have not read or listened to that book and I made it through this one just fine without being lost or confused with all of the characters. This book can certainly be read and/or listened to as a standalone.

What could go wrong when two drunk guys who have been friends since they were kids make the decision to “watch some porn together?”

Dylan and Nate have been friends since they were 8 years old, like 15+ years. I love that they are both totally and completely clueless of their feelings for each other at the start of this book, they are really just friends, but so obviously (to everyone else) more than “just friends”. I really enjoy the friends to lovers trope in books, especially when it’s the first time really experiencing new feelings for someone of the same gender you wouldn’t normally like in that way. It was refreshing that they kind of fumbled their way through their feelings and different aspects of their relationship taking the time to make sense of it all. They didn’t just jump into bed together and that gave this book more of a real-life feeling to it. Omg, and when they do get together it is totally awkward and fumbling, and funny, cause they have no clue what they are doing, that’s the way sex with someone you know and have a connection with should be, it should be fun as well as steamy. The narration for this part was amusing to listen to as well. And all the embarrassing advice they get from their well-meaning friends throughout the book is pretty funny as well. Nate and Dylan end up being the most adorable couple together.

Audio – This is my first time getting a chance to hear a book by the narrator Daniel Henning and I was delightfully surprised by how much I liked his rendition of this book. He gave us two different voices for each of the main characters that were distinctive enough to keep track of who was talking during the book. I’m always a little worried when I hear new narrators on books from authors I love but I really think he did well with this one and wouldn’t mind getting more of his audiobook narrations to add to my library. Cute book and good narration of the audiobook.
