A smitten coyote isn’t the only one stalking Buffalo Bill.
A buffalo walks into a cafe. Sounds like the start of a bad joke, but for coyote shifter Donnie Granger, it’s the beginning of an obsession. Donnie is a little hyperactive and a lot distractible, except when it comes to William. He finally works up the nerve to approach William but is interrupted by a couple of violent humans.
While William—don’t call me Bill—is currently a professor, he once worked undercover against an international weapons-trafficking ring. Before he can settle into obscurity, he must find out who leaked his location and eliminate the thugs. He tries keeping his distance to protect Donnie, but the wily coyote won’t stay away.
It’ll take both Donnie’s skills as a stalker—er, hunter—and William’s super-spy expertise to neutralize the threat so they can discover if an excitable coyote and a placid-until-pissed buffalo have a future together.
4 Stars!
Donnie, a coyote-shifter/barista, has been kind of obsessing over the manly-man who has been coming to the cafe he works at. Just after he finally gathers the courage to speak to William, two violent men appear at the cafe inquiring about the handsome professor, turning Donnie's world upside down.
I loved Donnie. I found him endearing, even if a tad immature and reckless. He was sarcastic, funny and self-deprecating. However, it was sweet to see how smitten he was with William and how much he wanted to help him in any way he could, even at the expense of his own safety. I was kind of annoyed that everyone seemed to belittle Donnie, actually, my heart broke for him. He tried his best and his best didn't seem to be good enough for his family or William sometimes. It took me a whole lot more to warm up to William. Perhaps if we'd gotten his POV and I'd been able to see why he acted like he did, that would've changed, but as it was, I wasn't too happy with his lack of communication. I was frustrated by how he kept things from Donnie for his safety, not that it did him any good, to be honest. Anyway, I thought Donnie and William had great chemistry and the sex scenes were very hot!
I loved Ford, Donnie's best friend, and I can't wait to read his story. I was ecstatic when I saw it was the next book in the series!
All in all, I really enjoyed Stalking Buffalo Bill! I found the undercover threat very intriguing and liked how it all played out. The writing was good and the plotline was entertaining for the most part. This was a great start to the series and I'm looking forward to more. Recommendable!!!

ReplyDeleteCongrats, Leigh, and thanks for the review, Mari. This sounds interesting, with the buffalo and all, but I suppose my fav shifter is panther. - Purple Reader,
