Book Review: Alpha's Danger by Renee Rose & Lee Savino

Book Review ~ Alpha's Danger (A MC Werewolf Romance) by Renee Rose & Lee Savino

“YOU BROKE THE RULES, LITTLE HUMAN. I OWN YOU NOW.”

I am an alpha wolf, one of the youngest in the States. I can pick any she-wolf in the pack for a mate. So why am I sniffing around the sexy human attorney next door? The minute I catch Amber’s sweet scent, my wolf wants to claim her.

Hanging around is a bad idea, but I don’t play by the rules. Amber acts all prim and proper, but she has a secret, too. She may not want her psychic abilities, but they’re a gift.

I should let her go, but the way she fights me only makes me want her more. When she learns what I am, there’s no escape for her. She’s in my world, whether she likes it or not. I need her to use her gifts to help recover my missing sister—and I won’t take no for an answer.

She’s mine now.

Publisher’s Note: Alpha’s Danger is a stand-alone book in the Bad Boy Alpha’s series. HEA guaranteed, no cheating. This book contains a hot, demanding alpha wolf with a penchant for protecting and dominating his female. If such material offends you, do not buy this book.

3 Stars!

What I Loved: There are two things that are pretty much an instant sale for me in a story. Shifters and MC's. So it goes without saying that I was all about Alpha's Danger (A MC Werewolf Romance). A young sexy Alpha Werewolf whose wolf is demanding he claim the uptight young lawyer living next door. What could be better than that? Throw in all the drama of a human learning that werewolves truly exist, physic abilities and a kidnapped sister and this was a recipe for a potentially smoking hot book.

What I Liked: I Liked Garrett, I'm a fan of a possessive Alpha (not to be confused with a*hole). I liked how he from the beginning felt this pull and had no qualms about being protective and caring. I definitely liked that there was a lot more to see with him than Amber's initial assumptions. I think his character had a lot of great potential in the story.

I knew going in that this book would most likely feature a BDSM theme but I was very happily surprised that it wasn't very heavy and was more sexy than anything else.

What I Didn't Like: Ugh. I can't stand Amber. I'm sorry to say but I pretty much disliked her immediately and it just never got any better for me. Maybe it's not fair but I found her way too judgmental at first and her inner dialogue annoyed me. Saying "Let the record reflect..." in her mind once or twice could be considered cute, but 18 times?! It got old pretty fast.

Her initial reaction to Garrett and his pack mates irritated me as well. She is getting on the elevator for her apartment building and has to make room for three large and in her opinion menacing men who she dubs as "Hell's Angels" in her mind. She immediately gets snotty and asks if they are visiting someone to which they reply no. She then feels as if she's entitled to an explanation as to why they are there. All I can think at this point is that she needs to mind her own business. If these guys (huge Conan the Barbarian type men) are so intimidating, then the smart thing to do would be to not antagonize them. I mean what is a tiny 5'3" woman going to do trapped in an elevator with 3 large mean looking men who she assumes are part of a "Biker Gang"?

Then she calls the management office to speak to them about the men who it turns out are her neighbors.
***Pulling on a strand of my hair, I dial the number for the property manager of my apartment. Maybe I’m being a bitch, but I really think I should follow up on the guys.
“This is Cherise.”
“Hi Cherise, Amber Drake calling. I’m in apartment 4F?”
“Of course. Hi, Amber.”
“Listen, I’m wondering about the guys in 4G. What’s the scoop?”
A pause. “I’m sorry?”
“I met the guys in 4G. They looked really rough. I’m a little nervous about having them as neighbors. Have you had any complaints about them or anything?”
Cherise barks a laugh. “No, I can’t say that we have.”
“So, they’re not partiers or anything? No loud noises or too many motorcycles out front?”
“Do you have a specific complaint?” Cherise’s voice turns cold.
Okay, maybe I’m being a suspicious bitch. “No, nothing specific. I just wanted to be sure. You know, they don’t look like the most upstanding guys.”
“I wouldn’t judge a book by its cover.” Cherise seems downright annoyed now.
“Right, I’m sorry. I just thought I would check in. You’ve relieved my mind. Thank you.” Cherise hangs up without a goodbye.
Oops. Someone’s pissy. But I’m a single woman, looking out for myself. She should understand. ***

Now, are you seriously telling me you would approach a situation like this in that way? She's a lawyer, I think there were more diplomatic ways of going about things without the possibility of angering these men she's so afraid of. I'm sorry but I just found it to be extremely unrealistic and it didn't endear her to me at all.

Overall, I'm not sure I'd recommend this particular story, I feel like there was great potential and I love the premise. However, the execution was a bit lacking, the dialogue a tad stilted and the h a whole lot annoying.
