Sharing a late-night kiss with his best friend, Alex, is Riley’s dream come true. Waking up to discover Alex was too drunk to remember anything is more like a nightmare. Scared the truth could destroy their friendship, Riley keeps quiet and pretends nothing happened.
Alex can’t shake the feeling that he said or did something stupid on their group’s drunken weekend away—why else would Riley be avoiding him? Although the explanation he finally gets sounds plausible, Riley’s still acting strange, and trying to figure out why that is unearths emotions Alex has worked hard to bury.
Riley knows not telling Alex how he feels is probably selfish, but he wants one last normal Christmas before he has to come clean and face the potential fallout.
He should have known it wouldn’t be that easy.
4 Stars!
Riley and Alex have been the best of friends for years. Lately, however, Riley is finding it harder and harder to fight his attraction to Alex. He's been dreaming of more than just friendship but is afraid that his feelings might not be reciprocated. Drunk and unable to fight it, Riley makes a move and is elated that Alex goes with it, showing Riley he's not the only one who's wanted more from their current relationship. But the next morning it seems Alex has no memory of what happened between them. Now Riley has to figure out how to deal with his feelings while carrying around the secret of them that drunken night.
Enjoyable read about friends to lovers. Both guys care deeply about one another but where Riley is, in my opinion, pretty obvious in his feelings towards Alex, Alex is pretty oblivious to what's going on with his best friend. Their friends all either know or suspect that they want to be more than friends so they try to get the guys to talk it out. However, these guys are stubborn, not wanting to negatively affect their friendship.
There's some angst, Riley has some self-esteem issues and Alex over-thinks a lot of things but for the most part, it's a combination of funny, sweet and sexy. The writing is well done and all the characters are likable. I'd definitely recommend it.

A Christmas Kiss by Annabella Jacobs is a standalone best friends to lovers novella. It's a sweet, low-angst Christmas read about two long-time friends who have always crushed on each other, finally forced to share their feelings.
Riley and Alex are best friends and always together, so much so, their parents have always thought they were a couple. Both men have always been attracted to the other, but have tried to hide it for the sake of their friendship but with the help of alcohol, everything is about to change. On a weekend getaway with their group of friends, Riley and Alex have too much to drink and Riley finally makes his move to show Alex how he feels and Alex reciprocates. Except the next morning, Riley awakes to find that Alex doesn't remember anything from the night before. Alex knows that something is wrong with Riley, but he won't talk. Over the next few weeks, another trip to the lodge, and the help of their friends, Alex and Riley are forced to talk to each other and about their feelings.
This story is exactly what you'd expect from a Christmas novella! It's easy and quick to read and there's Christmas and snowball fighting included within! Make sure you add this to your Christmas reading schedule!
