I'm very surprised by Blood Divine and I have to say, if you are looking for an intriguing and suspenseful horror story, you need to give this one a try. Beautifully written and a keep you on your toes plot that kept me glued to everything Cooper did. Ghosts, murder and secrets, Vampires and Witches, Blood Divine has got it all.
There is some complex world building going on here but it flows quite well and wasn't too hard to follow. There is a large group of characters and while not all are forefront throughout the entire story, it's apparent they were all well thought out. There is a lot going on here. It's not a simple, fast and easy read but it's very engaging and entertaining.
As for the romance part of it, that's really secondary to the overall plot. I wasn't even quite sure what romance would happen. It's subtle and builds nicely throughout the second half of the book but the plot isn't overshadowed by it. I am definitely anxious to see what the author may have in store for the characters in the future. With the way everything ended its left open for more and I hope there is.

Greg Howard grew up near the coast of South Carolina, or as he fondly refers to it, “the armpit of the American South.” By the time he could afford professional therapy and medication, the damage had already been done. His hometown of Georgetown, South Carolina is known as the “Ghost Capital of the South,” (seriously…there’s a sign), and was always a great source of material for his overactive imagination.
Raised in a staunchly religious home, Greg escaped into the arts: singing, playing piano, acting, writing songs, and making up stories. After running away to the bright lights and big city of Nashville, Tennessee with stars in his eyes and dreams of being the Dianne Warren of Music City, he took a job peddling CDs and has been a cog in the music business machine ever since.
Now an adult with a brain, Greg finds the South Carolina coast to be a perfectly magical place where he vacations yearly and dreams of the day when he can return to write full time in the most tastefully decorated beach house on Pawleys Island.
