Austen Payne, THIRDS Squadron Specialist Agent (SSA) for Destructive Delta and TIN operative, has seen the worst the world has to offer, faced lethal killers, and helped bring down dangerous organizations. But nothing terrifies him more than falling in love. After years of undercover work, Austen is a master at defending himself and protecting his heart… until he meets Osmond Zachary.
THIRDS Defense Agent Osmond Zachary has a huge, doting family, yet something is missing in his life. After meeting grumpy, foul-mouthed, jittery cheetah Therian Austen Payne, Zach knows exactly what that something—or someone—is. Unfortunately Austen seems determined to avoid Zach at all costs.
When Zach foils an assassination attempt, he ends up in the killer’s crosshairs, and Austen is Zach’s best chance at staying alive. Zach hopes the crisis will bring them closer, but Austen has every intention of walking away as soon as the danger is over.
Happily ever after isn’t for guys like Austen, but Zach is determined to show him it can be….

5 Stars!

I’ve waited a long time for Austen to finally get his story and now he has and I loved it. He and Zach are great. Not just because of their excellent chemistry but their banter and the natural connection they seem to have makes them a great couple. I love how they come together and how everyone can see what they mean to each other even if they can’t always see it.

Zach is a huge, lovable, sweet Teddy Bear. I absolutely adored him and his gentleness. He was so good to Austen and he would not let Austen push him away even when it seemed like he should. I wished we’d gotten to see a tad more of his badass THIRDS side, most of the time he was relegated to the sidelines. However, it was impossible not to love him and want to hug him.

Austen burrowed his way into my heart from the first time we met him flirting with Sloane. I never really realized how complicated he was though, believe it or not. He definitely broke my heart with his backstory and my love for him grew but he was at his best when he was with Zach and his “Viking Horde” of a family. I can’t wait to see how he evolves and the changes that are ahead of him now that he’s getting some happiness.

I love this 'verse. The world of Therians, THIRDS and TIN is so fun to read. I’ve grown so attached to the characters and their stories and I just can’t get enough of Charlie Cochet’s imagination. I’m actually in awe of it and the ability she has to create a world as unique, detailed and vivid as she has. I can’t wait for the next book. I highly recommend Love and Payne.

  4. I really enjoyed Somebody to Die For, but if I made a choice from the two books I haven't read, I'd chose Love and Payne. I'm probably one of the few people who hasn't read the Thirds books yet and would love to read this one to try them out.
