With my busy schedule as an ER doctor, an ocean between us, and the trust issues his abusive ex inflicted, the chance of a successful long-distance relationship is close to zero. Loving Jack may be the one thing I can’t fix.

This book talks about some harder subjects. And while I don’t really think it needs an actual “trigger” warning, I do think that some readers might want to skip this one if they have any sort of issue reading content with Mental and Physical abuse or domestic violence being talked about. But it does not really actually happen on page anywhere in this book.

Warwick is a UK transplant who’s been living in the US working as a doctor for several years. He meets Jack after an altercation between Jack and his boyfriend lands Jack in the hospital. Warwick swears he will do anything he can to help and get Jack away from his abusive ex. Jack just has to admit it’s happening and want to get away first. Once he does, the two men are able to work together to make sure Jack is safe, even if it ends in a long distance heartbreak.

Jack and Warwick have an instant and strong connection from the very beginning that can’t be denied. I was so dang happy after the incident that happens causing Jack to finally get his chance to run away from his horrible ex and being able to contact Warwick for help. But I was totally surprised by what Warwick was willing to do in order to keep Jack feeling safe. The blurb talks about a long distance relationship and I wasn’t really prepared by how that actually turned out in this book, it ended up being different than I initially thought it would be. This book keeps you guessing at every turn, you can’t really see what is going to happen until it actually does. The relationship and bond these two men form over time is really sweet to see. They are both super cute together and I liked both of their characters. I think a large part of what really endeared me to Warwick was that he was such a genuinely nice, sweet guy. What I really would have liked in this book though, is a conclusion on how the heck Greg got all the info and dirt on Jack and Warwick? I really feel let down that we did not find out who was feeding him that information when all was said and done. But good riddance on that horrible piece of work Greg. I’m glad Jack was able to find some peace where he was concerned. This book was a nice quick read that wasn’t too deep and dark. It was the perfect choice for a few hours of reading time to kill.
