Book Review: Feel: An Omegaverse Story (Breaking Free Book 6) by A.M. Arthur

Single omegin Brogan Dale is jealous of the loving, stable relationships his omega friends have with their alpha mates. For years, he’s longed to find his own bondmate and create a family, but that hasn’t been in the cards. Just when he’s determined to take the first alpha who’ll provide for himself and his young son Peyton, Brogan scents him across a crowded coffee shop. Too bad his bondmate is the unstable alpha who nearly killed Brogan’s best friend last year.

Mikel Tovey is taking it one day at a time, adjusting to life on his own, away from the oppression and abuse of his cruel sire. All he wants is to complete his probation, make sure his omegin and brothers are safe, and find a way to live with all the mistakes he’s made. When he scents his omega bondmate, Mikel is initially terrified of the older omegin and his adorable toddler. But Brogan is handsome, kind, and Mikel is completely enamored of little Peyton.

With his bondmate in his sights, Brogan does everything in his power to prove Mikel can be a good alpha, a good mate, and a fantastic father to Peyton. But when Brogan’s past comes roaring into his present and puts Peyton’s future at risk, Mikel’s resolve is shaken. He wants to love and support his omega during this crisis, but he doesn’t know how. With Brogan surrounded by friends and chosen family who love him, he doesn’t need Mikel’s insecurities weighing him down, too—but Brogan has found his mate, and he isn’t letting Mikel walk away without a fight.

This time, Brogan has too much to lose…

NOTE: This is a non-shifter Omegaverse story with alpha/omega/beta dynamics, heats, knotting, and mpreg. In this world, omegas are second-class citizens with few civil rights and almost no protections under the law—although times are changing for the better. Trigger warnings for physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. This series is best read in numerical order.

Feel is Book 6 in A.M. Arthur’s Breaking Free series and cannot be read as a standalone! This is a fantastic series and world that the author has created, and I highly recommend reading the entire series!

Brogan is the last single Omega rescued from the fight ring. Almost two years later and he’s still living with his foster parents and ready to give up on finding his bondmate. A casual meeting with Morris and Jayson for coffee shocks Brogan when he finally finds his bondmate. A bondmate who he has heard of and not in a good way. Mikel is hanging on by a thread after everything that happened when he tried to kill himself but instead hurt Jaysan. He’s meeting the conditions of his probation and seeing his therapist as ordered but he’s nowhere close to forgiving himself for what happened. He’s shocked when he discovers Brogan is his bondmate, the last thing Brogan needs is someone like him.

Though Omegas are supposed to be the weak gender needing Alpha’s protection, this series has done a great job, especially in this book, of showing the strength of Omegas. Brogan had to be strong to provide the support that Mikel needed. This was a slow moving relationship, that we saw build throughout the pages of the story. I loved that Brogan and Mikel dated and got to know each other, not always common in books with alpha/omega dynamics. Their relationship didn’t come together easily. They each had their own issues to work through with their histories, but they also had their friends' concerns. And, just when you think maybe the horror of the fight ring is done, it’s brought back to light with the discovery of the paternity of Brogan’s child.

I truly love this series. I love the world that the author has created and even the smallest things bringing this world together. This M-Preg story has no females. It’s Alpha, Omega and Beta, all males. But, all of them in the series when speaking about a “higher power” use the term Goddess. I loved seeing so many of the characters from the previous books and I love the self-made family and how it continues to extend. If you have not read this series, or if you’re looking to try an M-Preg book, this series should be the one you start with. You’ll see that the author has built an entire world. This is an A.M Arthur book so it’s not a sweet, sappy love story. Her books are always filled with hurt and damaged people working to live the best life they can live. There’s plenty of love story and the previous couples provide the sap, but these men have a lot of trauma and a lot of work in trying to change their world to improve it for everyone. Feel is the 6th book in the breaking free series by A.M. Arthur. Finally, we have Brogan's book. Brogan is one of the omegas saved from the fight ring. He seems to thrive and enjoy life with his son but he is lonely. After meeting Mikel at a coffee shop he realizes he is his mate. They both feel the pull but Mikel accidentally stabs Jaysan while making an attempt on his own life. Jaysan forgives him, but his mates despise him and Brogan is very curious about him.

Peyton, Brogan's son, is my favorite character. He is absolutely adorable. I was glad to see how much we saw of him. Brogan was a really good guy but for someone who is as close to the other omegas as he is I found he seemed to trust Mikel way too fast, I mean, we find out that Mikel is a good guy as the book went on but at the beginning, we didn't know all that much. Despite what he went through, I find Mikel does pretty well. He instantly loves Peyton which makes him a pretty great guy and he tries so hard for both Brogan and Peyton.

I really liked this book. I like the whole series but this one is one of my favorites. I love Brogan and Mikel as a couple and despite everything Brogan is going through, Mikel became his rock and gave him nothing but love while doubting himself the whole time. I really hope this series is not done. And I really hope we can see a time skip with all the babies.
