BLURB:
Darius has just retired as a police officer and opened his PI business. He expects to help people and continue the exciting life he had while on the force, but most of his cases center around cheating spouses. That is until a young boy comes into his office one afternoon.

Parker insists that his parents are missing, and not believing him, Darius calls the people on the boy’s phone to find one who is willing to pick him up. Rick, a family friend, comes to get him. As a thank you for watching over Parker, Rick invites Darius to his house for dinner. Their connection is instant, but their romantic night together becomes complicated when men break into Rick’s house and start shooting.

Once Darius retired as a police officer, he decided to become a private detective. He didn't realize that when he set up his business that most of his cases were going to involve spying on cheating spouses. Then one day, a teen boy comes in and tries to hire him to find his parents. Darius takes the boy's phone and goes through his contact list until he finds a relative willing to pick him up. Rick comes to get the boy and asks Darius to join him and Parker for dinner. Darius is quick to say yes. Once they have dinner, the sparks fly and it isn't long before Parker is upstairs in his room and Darius and Rick are locked in a room together getting better acquainted. And then the quiet evening comes to an end when they are fighting intruders and trying to solve a mystery.

This short story is only 39 pages long, and A LOT happens in that 39 pages. It was a very quick-paced story with a first meeting, first date, sex, shootings, weird mysteries solved, and a HEA. If you're looking for something to quick to read during your lunch, or maybe a break in between other books, this is definitely one you'll want to check out!
