4 Stars!!!

Gasping for Air is book 2 in the Gameday Series and it can be read as a standalone, which is what I did. While it's not stated in the blurb, before reading it, be warned that this book deals with abuse and rape in graphic detail from around 80% on, so if that's a trigger for you, please proceed with care.

I loved Trystan. He was definitely my favorite of the two MCs. Yes, he was conceited and entitled, but he was also a charmer and sometimes behaved like an overeager puppy trying to get its master's attention. It took me a bit to warm up to Dakota. His hot and cold behavior concerning Trystan got boring really fast. I know that what he went through with his ex-boyfriend wasn't easy, and my heart broke when we learned in a very detailed manner what Evan did to him and that had been hinted at for 80% of the book, still, it was kind of tiring that push and pull he had, no matter what Trystan did to win his trust. Dakota and Trystan were undeniably hot together and even if I'm not all that into BDSM, this wasn't too bad. It was more kinky than hardcore BDSM, so that is perfectly fine with me.

I really liked Alex and Lincoln and how good friends they were with Trystan and later with Dakota. I absolutely hated Evan, who was a psycho. *shudders* Really scary guy.

While I was entertained with the book, I did feel it was overly long. The author could (and should) have cut at least 1/3rd of the book and it would've been an even better story. It felt like muddling through molasses at some parts. The book was fun to read at some parts, heartbreaking and angsty in others, but overall, enjoyable and recommendable, just please remember that it can be triggering for some. I can't stress that enough.

T.S. McKinney lives in East Tennessee with her high school sweetheart/husband and all the countless dogs she picks up from deserted country roads. Her professional career has been in business but her heart has always belonged to the fantasy world found in books.
Creating wicked worlds where one can meet the perfect hero – and then do anything to him that you want – has been a hobby that has brought her plenty of hours of fun and naughty entertainment. When not working, reading, or writing, she loves to spend time with my family and forcing them (because they don’t really have another choice) to allow me to redecorate their houses…and listen to my naughty…sometimes sadistic stories.
