Shamed

3.5 Stars!

I'm a huge Chelsea Camaron and Ryan Michele fan. I was super excited to read their collaboration. Unfortunately, I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be, but I'm hoping that book 2 will be a lot more enjoyable.

Shamed is a second-chance romance set among the world of Bikers and danger. Kenderly is barely getting through the days as she works and cares for her depressed mother. 8 years before, the love of her life, Dixon broke up with her when she needed him desperately. Now thanks to trouble following his mother, Dixon has come crashing into her life again and he's decided the best way to help her and keep her safe is to claim her as his old lady.

So, part of the story I loved and others I have to say made me mad. Personally, I couldn't really get on board with how easy Kenderly took DJ back. The man was not very sincere and apologetic to her. He pretty much just ordered her to be with him and follow the rules. He explained why he left her but at the same time, it was as if he was just saying "This is why I did it but ultimately it was your fault we were apart for 8 years. Now we're back together because that's what I want and you have no choice". Ugh!

I loved the premise and I really liked the beginning but along the way, it just became ok. I know both of these authors can write a great story so I'm not sure if it was this particular story or if it was me. Hopefully, the story of Shamus and Andrea will be a lot more enjoyable.

Scorned

3.5 Stars!

I'm not sure why this series isn't really doing it for me so far. It's fun but I think I expected something a little darker or intense. I have high expectations for these two authors and their stories, unfortunately, Scorned didn't quite meet those expectations. It wasn't bad but it just wasn't a story I fell in love with.

Shamus came off as the club's funny man and so with this story, I had a hard time picturing him as the tough guy. It was a trait much more believable in DJ than in him. He was all about breaking Andrea in the beginning, in order to get back at her for her leaving him but it changed very quickly. He went from mad at her to wanting to spend the rest of his life with her.

As for Andrea, she didn't connect with me. I kind of lost interest in her and, truthfully, I just wanted to find out who the bad guy was so the mystery would be solved. I was kept intrigued by The Who? What? Why? Although, in truth, the ending had me feeling a tad underwhelmed.

Overall, Scorned was okay but definitely not my favorite. I'm a huge fan, though, so I know I'll try the next book in the series with hopes that I'll fall in love with it. We shall see!
