Only You by Aimee Nicole Walker

Blurb:

Two completely different men and one powerful attraction.

Sebastian Blake is a cynical, self-made billionaire who has only known rejection and abandonment in his personal life. Adam Johnson is a closeted gay man who works for the law firm representing Sebastian in a civil lawsuit filed against him by a former employee.

The attraction between the men is immediate and intense, but neither of them wants a relationship. Sebastian makes an offer that Adam can’t refuse and they agree to have a purely sexual arrangement.

Passions ignite and their hearts refuse to be ignored, but...

Enemies from Sebastian’s dark past begin to turn up dead and he is the prime suspect in their murders. Adam is his alibi and the only one who can save him. Will Adam risk everything and out himself to protect the man he loves?

Everlasting love or fatal attraction?

Adam soon finds himself in the killer’s crosshairs, which forces Sebastian to face his feelings for the man. If these two men are to have a future together, they must trust each other, brave adversity, and outsmart a serial killer.

Sebastian is a self-made billionaire with many enemies. After being burned one too many times, he doesn't want to bother with love or relationships any longer. However, that doesn't stop him from lusting after one of the lawyers assisting him on a lawsuit filed against him. Adam is young, gorgeous and sadly for Sebastian, straight and engaged to be married, or so he thinks. When Sebastian overhears a conversation, he realizes Adam is gay and his fiancée is just a front. Deciding he wants Adam to become his sub, since he can't offer him anything more, he presents him with a contract.

Adam has been crushing on Sebastian from the first moment he saw him. So he agrees to Sebastian's terms, even if Adam wants more than something that sounds more like a business deal than sex. Things change when Andy Hampton, the man who filed the lawsuit against Sebastian, is murdered and Sebastian is the prime suspect. Adam had been with him that night, though, so he is set on being Sebastian's alibi, even if that means having to come out to his parents and admit that his engagement was just a sham. Things take a turn for the better between Sebastian and Adam, making them realize the depth of their feelings, but there's still a killer on the loose.

I loved Adam. He might be very willing to give up his v-card to Sebastian and submit to him in any way he can in bed, but he's no wimp and can hold his own to anyone in all other areas of his life. He was smart, kind of shy and unassuming, not conscious of his worth or that others were attracted to him. I really liked that when he made a decision, he didn't back off, no matter what.

I liked Sebastian. I wasn't too sure about him at first, but he had a change of heart after Adam offered to be his alibi and he realized Adam was the man he needed by his side. He was arrogant, brash and used to getting what he wanted. Perhaps it was a bit too sudden of a change because Sebastian went from "I want sex with you so long as you follow my rules (signed contract included)" to "this is the man I want to be with for the rest of my life" at the turn of a page, but I really liked them together. They made a good team and had great chemistry, which made for some very hot scenes together.

The secondary storyline with the murders and the investigation and trying to draw the killer out was interesting, maybe a bit predictable, but I was intrigued trying to figure how it all would play out.

This is Aimee Nicole Walker's debut novel and comparing it to some of her newer books, you can really see the evolution in her writing style. The book has some editing issues, but they aren't overly jarring.

Overall, the book is enjoyable, fast-paced and intriguing. It's a very promising start to what's coming in the Fated Hearts series, which I'll be reviewing next. Recommendable!

Rating: 4 Stars!!!

Aimee Nicole Walker's Bio:

I am a wife and mother to three kids, three dogs, and a cat. When I’m not dreaming up stories, I like to lose myself in a good book, cook or bake. I'm a girly tomboy who paints her fingernails while watching sports and yelling at the referees. I will always choose the book over the movie. I believe in happily-ever-after. Love inspires everything that I do.  Music keeps me sane.

I’d love to hear from you.

  3. TBH, I haven't read Fated Hearts series yet but it's been on my TBR pile for a while now. You know, same problem. More books, less time. Ugh! *rolls eyes* Anyway, I've read Dyeing to be Loved and it's everything I hope for the novel. So I can say that it's my favorite of hers. The sequel of the said series will be out in a few hours. *does happy dance*
