Book Review: RECLAIM (Under My Skin #3) by Christina Lee

Book Review: RECLAIM (Under My Skin #3) by Christina Lee

Cover artist: KANAXA
Series: Under My Skin #3

BLURB:

Ever since high school, Elijah and Kamnan have always had each other’s backs. So when Kam suffers a freak accident and is laid up for a few weeks, it’s only natural that Elijah steps in to help him through his recuperation.

But the occasional meet-up to throw back a few drinks is different from being cooped up together in Kam’s condo day in and day out. In fact, the more time they spend together, the more Elijah sees Kam in a totally different light—one that surprises and scares him. After a tender moment turns into a passionate exchange, Kam chalks it up to the building tension of the routine they’ve fallen into.

As Kam regains his independence, the real world begins to encroach on the sanctuary they’ve built for themselves. Everything is different now, more intimate, and time apart feels empty. But Elijah’s still getting over a bad breakup, and Kam has his own plate full of responsibilities—like his Spin Cycle business and joint custody of his five-year-old daughter. A relationship is the last thing either of them is prepared for; will trying anyway end in heartbreak, or will resisting be the wedge that tears their friendship apart?

5 Stars

Finally finding the courage to step away from his controlling boyfriend, Stewart, Elijah is working on getting his life back together by spending time with the people that mean the most to him: His friends.

He and Kam have been best friends forever, so when Kam is injured and bedridden for some time, it’s only natural that Elijah offer to spend the evenings/nights with him after getting off work to help with whatever he needs. Over the next few weeks, feelings neither realized were there begin to deepen, but will they risk their precious friendship to explore those feelings?

This was a much lighter read than the others in the series. I love a good friends to lovers and this one was just perfect. I adored both Elijah and Kam, and I loved that the transition from friends to lovers was slow. It felt natural and organic.

The unresolved sexual tension — this story is a slow burn — was so thick you could cut it with a knife and when they finally give into it, it was explosive. The chemistry between Elijah and Kam was amazing and the sex was sweet, passionate and worth the wait.

The story was well-written and flowed well. It was an easy read and I enjoyed getting to know Kam’s daughter, Olivia, who was absolutely precious, as well as catching up with some of the characters from the previous stories. This was a sweet, satisfying and well, just a perfect read to snuggle up on the sofa with. Very enjoyable and highly recommended!
