Ghost [gohst] noun: the soul of a dead person, a disembodied, vague, shadowy spirit wandering among or haunting living persons; a mere shadow or semblance; a trace.
That noun sums up Ghost and what his life has become with painful precision. He is barely living, merely existing but never thriving. There wasn’t much that could pull him from the darkness he willingly inhabits…except one thing. Her.
She is the reason he’s done what he’s done, and his life has become what it has become.
He haunts his former life, lurking in the background, surviving on occasional glimpses of the only thing good that is left in his miserable life. The horror he has inflicted upon her is nothing compared to the terror that waits for her when someone moves in to take her from him.
The thing about being stuck in the past is that it is like walking through life backwards. She is always looking back, so she doesn’t see what is happening in front of her. Unfortunately for her, it turns out that the ghosts of the past aren’t nearly as terrifying as the monsters of the future.
They say that true love is like a ghost, something that many talk about but few have seen. It’s a good thing for that, too, because he’ll need that element of surprise to protect her. Hopefully when the dust settles, he’ll be able to resurrect more than just himself.

5 Stars!
So,this will probably be one of the hardest reviews I've ever had to write, because in order for me to not include spoilers I pretty much have no clue what to write about. That means I'm going to just keep this short and sweet and say I loved it. It was well written and had me laughing and crying, gasping and cheering and desperately wanting to finish it in one sitting. It's most definitely a book I'd recommend to fans of the series and Lani Lynn Vale.
The characters are all very likable and Ghost easily stole my heart. I'd been intrigued by him when I'd read previous books and wanted very badly to know his story. Well, we get to know it and it's not pretty. His past is pretty messed up and it broke my heart. This is a man who deserves a HEA and I couldn't wait to see him get it.
I loved seeing the brothers in the MC do everything they could to help him and his family. This is a very different type of MC from what I mostly read but I love them because of that. They're unique and they tend to be quite loyal to the club, of course, but mostly to their family. Whether that's their wives or Ol' Ladies, MC members or blood relatives they are all about helping and supporting one another and that's refreshing. It's also very important in this particular story.
There's quite a bit of steam in Beard Up and it's all pretty hot. It's also sweet and has you rooting for Ghost and his lady. They're perfect for one another and I loved that they were so connected. They had great chemistry and were funny and cute with one another.
This book does deal with some dark stuff and as a reader it's good to be prepared. It's not the darkest book I've read but there are some moments that are intense and some that made me cringe in disgust. So if rape and/or physical violence are hard to read be warned, it is discussed in this book (luckily, it's not very graphic).
