4.5 Stars!

Judge and Tamalyn

Wow, this one was quite emotional and the subject matter broke my heart at the same time the story touched me. From the horrible childhood they had to face to the way they always had to run or hide, it was heartbreaking. Bladen's dad deserved to be strung up and tortured for every minute of pain he inflicted on those around him. Tammalyn's dad as well. They both were disgusting and despicable human beings.

Secondary characters Willis and Louise, who were Tammalyn bar's patrons broke my heart and brought me to tears when I heard their story. I was tearing up at everything.

I really loved Judge and his all-consuming need to protect Tammalyn was beautiful. It made the story of their past sadder. Judge was such a hard man because it was the only way he could be but when it came to Tammalyn, he was soft and tender with her and would do anything for her. It was clear she was his world.

Overall, I really liked Tammalyn and her story was not in any way easy. She was a tough woman, though and she didn't use her trauma as an excuse to just give up. She did what she could to live her life and while she had to use a certain number of rules to keep herself safe she was a pro at it. The only problem I had with her character was at the end of the book, I felt like she was a bit selfish but it's hard to explain without spoilers. It was a fleeting thing, though and I got over it.

This could have been a 5 star read for me but, honestly, the ending fell a little short, it was a feeling of being anticlimactic. The beginning was so great and had me hooked from the first page but in the end, I was hoping for just a tad bit more. Still, overall, I very much enjoyed Close The Tab and this is a very entertaining series. I highly recommend it!
