Blurb

He was the myth and the legend of our small town. But no one knew the truth... except me.

Me
My childhood was stolen by a monster. I’ve forgotten what love feels like. What happiness feels like. What hope feels like. I am numb.

Him

He’s possibly as damaged as I am. Maybe even more. Scarred just as much on the inside as the outside. Just like me. He doesn’t speak. He doesn’t smile. He hides in the woods like an animal.  I should be scared of him. But I’m not. He’s the only one that has ever made me feel. And I want to make him feel, too. everything...

5+ Stock-on-the-Tissues Stars!!!

Tied is book 2 in the Devils Wolves series and it can be read as a standalone, but I really enjoyed Torn, and we met Tyler there, so if possible, I suggest picking it up, you won't regret it.

I will start by saying I'm so thankful that both my coblogger Jaymie and I asked for this book to read and that we had the chance to read it together (through the magic of the internet, but it still counts), because I'm not sure how would I have fared otherwise. You'll need tissues, lots of them, as Tied is a extremely emotional, intense read. My heart broke I don't know how many times for both Tyler and Holly and I was deeply moved and affected by it all to the point I wasn't sure how to move on from this book onto the next. Which, seeing as I still have like 5 or 6 books left to finish my review load for the month is not a good thing.

I'm not sure my words would do this book justice and I won't pretend to do so, this is a book you need to experience by yourself, so I'm just going to share some of my impressions about some of the characters.

I absolutely loved Holly and Tyler, they were so broken and misunderstood by others. I think I spent more than half the book fighting to be able to read through my tears. Everything they each had to go through just about killed me. It was lovely seeing how being with each other helped them heal, though. Tyler, especially, was so patient and sweet and I just about melted everytime he would comfort Holly. <3 And Holly was such a sweet girl, I was so happy she got her prince. The love between them grew so naturally and it was absolutely breathtaking.

I loved Zac and Anna and Grammy, it was amazing that Holly had them in her corner. Same with Feather, who was a great friend and support for Holly throughout the book. I would've loved seeing more of Holly's grandma, though. She seemed like a formidable lady!

Much as I loved these secondary characters, there were two or rather, three, that I hated with the fire of a thousand suns and wouldn't have minded them all suffering gruesome, torturously slow, painful deaths. On top of my list is Holly's mother, because the woman truly didn't deserve the title, she was an evil bitch and she treated Holly like she was mentally ill half the time and the other half, like she was a disruption to her perfect little life. Second, Holly's abductor, who I wish had suffered a bit more. It was all a bit anticlimactic, actually. And last but not least, Wendy, she deserved what little we saw she got and more, so much more.

Tied was so much more than I expected. Carian Cole made me fall in love with Tyler and Holly and eagerly pray for their HEA. She did a fantastic job dealing with very difficult themes in an informed, compassionate and sensitive manner and while she broke my heart repeatedly, she managed to make it whole again with the perfection that was the epilogue.

Would I recommend Tied? Hell yes! This book definitely going directly to my all-time favorites and favorite books of 2017 shelves! I can't wait for more books in this series!

5++ Stars!

Every once in a while I read a book that breaks my heart and touches my soul. It has me questioning why I decided to read it but not being able to put it down. It causes me to wish I could climb into my Kindle and enter their world with hopes of making their lives better, slaying their Demons and give them the happiness they deserve.

Holly Daniels became known as the "Girl in the hole" when Tyler Grace, town recluse and outcast, discovered her imprisoned in a hole deep in the forest outside of town. Abducted as a little girl, she's known nothing but pain and fear for 10 years. Now she is tasked with rebuilding her life and finding a way to live with what she has been through.

Tyler Grace had the perfect life and a bright future. However, everything changed the night he was pushed into a fire. Being burned so badly was the start of what seemed to be one horrible event after another. Left beaten down by life and a town of judgmental jerks, Tyler retreats to the woods and builds what's left of his life in solitude.

Finding Holly might have been fate or, in Holly's eyes, part of a fairytale but in all actuality, it's the catalyst to bringing two tortured souls back to life. It's not always pretty and it's definitely not easy but in the end Tyler and Holly's story touched my heart.

I fell in love with Tyler and my heart broke over and over for all he went through. At times he was not very nice (understandably so) and sometimes he was full of self-hatred and sadness but most of the time I found him sweet and sincere and real. Not many people were "real" with Holly and having Tyler be that way was wonderful.

Holly was trapped in limbo a bit because while she wanted normalcy now that she was free, it was obvious that there really would not be normalcy for her. What she suffered and dealt with may never go away and that's heartbreaking. But I adored that she didn't cave under the fear, she wanted life and she made it happen on her own terms.

Together Tyler and Holly were sweet and I loved that they slowly grew closer as friends, with intimacy and love. There wasn't a rushed feeling that I read a lot in these types of stories. It was paced quite well and naturally.

There were a cast of great characters there to add support, Zac and Anna. Gram and Feather, even Tanner and a very patient Cab Driver. Not to mention Poppy an adorable little dog that continued to bring Tyler and Holly together. There was also a cast of characters I hated and left me feeling a bit violent towards. Holly's mother and father and Wendy who Karma needs to make her plaything.

Overall, I adored this emotionally charged story. Carian Cole's writing was amazing and I couldn't even try to put it down. I wholeheartedly recommend Tied with an industrial sized box of Kleenex.

Author Bio

I have a passion for the bad boys, those covered in tattoos, sexy smirks, ripped jeans, fast cars, motorcycles and of course, the sweet girls that try to tame them and win their hearts. My debut series, Ashes & Embers, follows the lives of rock band members as they find, and sometimes lose, the loves of their lives.

Born and raised a Jersey girl, I now reside in beautiful New Hampshire with my husband and our multitude of furry pets and spend most of my time writing, reading, and vacuuming.
