AotM: Looking at Forever/Forever at Sunrise by Ann Lister (Reviews+Giveaway)

Looking At Forever

(The Rock Gods #4)

Goodreads ~ Amazon

Mick Wheland, Ivory Tower's bad-boy guitarist, has recently realized two important things about himself. He prefers sex with men over women, and the idea of a committed relationship doesn't scare him as much as it once did. He's seen the positive effects of love from watching his band-mates find life partners, and now he's thinking he might be ready for the same himself. The problem is knowing where to look for Mr. Right, and living out of a suitcase while touring with a band is not exactly conducive to finding real love.

Sonny (Rooster) Roostarelli leaves the seclusion of his Vancouver cabin, where he went to lick his wounds after a contentious divorce, and moves back to Los Angeles. He claims relocating to L.A. is for business purposes, but now that the dust has settled on his failed marriage, Rooster feels he might finally be ready to settle down – with a man.

A chance encounter for Wheland and Rooster on a busy L.A. street rekindles an old friendship between the two professional musicians. Rooster needs a short-term place to stay and Wheland has plenty of extra space at his hillside estate and that lands Rooster in Wheland's guest room. What starts out as a music collaboration opportunity quickly turns personal when the chemistry they have becomes too strong to ignore and soon the music they're making spills from the studio and into the bedroom.

The road is a grueling bitch musicians love to hate. Being on stage under the hot lights can sometimes be the only place they feel comfortable and alive. Can two high-profile rock stars make a life together in such an artificial world – on and off the stage... or will past mistakes and family secrets keep them from finding their forever?

Wheland "Mick" and Rooster "Sonny" get 4.5 stars!!

I debated reading this book. I didn't care for Wheland's character in book 3. Jayson and Cooper have been my favorite book/characters by far, and Wheland tried to get in the middle. I wasn't happy with him, but alas, I am glad I read this book. Ann made me fall in love with Wheland. I loved him and Sonny together. I LOVED that it didn't take them forever to get together, and they were a couple all through the book. They may have had some hurdles to get over, but they jumped them together, hand in hand.

I loved seeing the tender side of Mick. He and Sonny had really good chemistry, and they were hot as hell in bed. Although I do have one complaint... I HATE BDSM, and could have definitely lived without those scenes. Thank God there were only 2, and the rest was your ordinary scorching hot sex!!

I really loved that Cooper and Jayson were such a big part of Sonny and Mick's story and I am looking forward to seeing books for Tony and Jared and also Ashton and Dante. Hopefully, we will be back on those tour buses soon!!

ROCK ON!!

Having survived the hell that ended their last tour, Wheland realizes just how short life can be and how close he came to losing his own in the flames of the Berlin fire. Officially off the road until everyone has had a chance to fully heal from their physical and emotional wounds, Wheland and his band brothers limp back home to make sense of what happened and where they will go from here.

This unplanned but much needed downtime offers Wheland a moment of clarity; suddenly, solidifying a future with Rooster never felt so necessary—or urgent. A proposal leads to an intimate ceremony that you simply don't want to miss, but the greatest surprise of all is the wedding gift they receive once they get home.

The Rock Gods family continues to grow with each new milestone they reach together, and Wheland and Rooster's future is about to become a whole lot brighter—and busier.

Forever At Sunrise is a Rock Gods novella with approximately 45,000 words and a HEA.

*This is not a standalone and should be read only after reading Looking At Forever (book 4 in the Rock Gods series)*

Ann was kind enough to surprise her readers with the release of Forever At Sunrise, a continuation of Wheland/Mick and Rooster/Sonny's story. This is going to be a short review, because I don't want to give spoilers away.

This was a sweet and hot story. Ann manages to recapture the chemistry and passion that Sonny and Mick shared in their original story, as well in the cameos they have made in other books. This book is filled with happiness, humor, family and love. It's well-written and paced well. Sonny and Mick fit so well together and I'm glad Ann decided to share more of their story with us.

As much as I loved the sweetness and special moments shared between Sonny and Mick, some of my favorite moments were when all the band members were together. Watching all the guys interact together, especially Jay, Coop, Sonny, Mick, Dante, Ashton and Alex broke up that sweetness and seriousness of the story with some amazing comic relief, especially Cooper, and I don't say this because I'm biased and Jay and Coop are my favorite couple! Cooper and Jason really did put a big smile on my face and Cooper's antics had me laughing out loud. (Ann what do I have to do to get more of Jay and Coop?! :D <3)

This was a quick and very enjoyable read, that I'd highly recommend!!

  2. Congrats on AotM. I do like series with interconnected storylines, particularly because I like to see how the story, characters, and relationships develop beyond just the initial book. - Purple Reader,
