What I Loved: I love stories that have twists and turns leaving me trying to figure out what is going to happen. I love intrigue and this story is full of it. Sadie learned the truth of her past and the trauma she suffered as a child. It's not easy for her or for us as readers to learn the details and cause of her pain. The characters have a connection that they don't all quite understand at first and it's very interesting to learn how everything connects.
What I liked: This story picks up right where it left off, so we're instantly thrust into the story. While it took me a bit to get back into it, once I finally did, I found myself unable to put it down. There is a good combination of action, mystery, sex and romance. Secrets and heartbreak and sweetness, as well. It all makes this an enjoyable MC read.
What I Didn't Like: So, one of the reasons I hate cliffhangers is that by the time I start reading the next book, I've forgotten what happened previously. If I was just reading for pleasure that wouldn't be a problem, I'd just reread the first book. Unfortunately, as a reviewer, I don't really have that option since I have a list of books to complete on time. So I have to admit it took me some time to get back into the story.
I really would like to know why authors and screenwriters love to portray Police officers and corrections officers as corrupt, violent, abusive a**holes? Why so many times when a character is thrown into jail or prison, they are treated like it's commonplace to beat and abuse convicts. As the wife of a corrections' officer I find this extremely insulting and hate it. I can not stand scenes in which a character has been arrested and thrown in jail and beaten, humiliated and verbally assaulted by the officer. Especially when they have yet to be formally charged, questioned, arraigned or even given the opportunity to contact someone.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story and definitely recommend it to readers. I am anxious to see more from the characters and their club, not to mention Nikki Groom.
