Someone's killing werewolves.

Lukas Vance finds a list of towns, and in each one he discovers a murdered 19-year-old who smells almost like pack even though he knows they can't be related to him. He reaches the next town on the list before the killer, determined to get the intended victim out of this situation alive. When he catches the familiar pack scent and sees the guy it belongs to, Lukas wants to do so much more than protect him.

Chris Keenan doesn't know why gorgeous, broody Lukas thinks he's in danger. Lukas says he wants to keep him safe, and when Chris freaks out Lukas is the only one able to calm him down. Chris has been feeling off for a while, and whatever's causing that seems to be related to the list of towns and the murderer who's made him a target. Instead of going to the police, Chris puts his trust in Lukas. But even with Lukas protecting him, figuring out what's wrong with him may be the last thing Chris ever does.

Shift is a 98,000-word novel for people who want some gay shifter romance inside their urban fantasy, ensemble cast adventure.

5 Stars!!!

Shift was surprisingly good! I haven't read a paranormal book quite like this, enthralling, intriguing, suspenseful and while it wasn't quite a romance, it had more than enough of one to keep me happy throughout the story.

Lukas and Chris had great chemistry and when they finally gave into their attraction, they were really hot together. It took a while to get there, but really, there was so much going on plot-wise, that I wasn't bothered with the slow-burn. ;)

The ensemble cast of characters was amazing, from the main couple, Lukas and Chris, through which POVs we see the action unfold, to Lukas' brother, Griffin and Chris' best friend, Albert (who I really hope would become a couple in future books) and Jules, Tad and Roger, and even Chris' dad, who was instrumental in some parts of the book, they were all so different and lovable and I'd love to read more about them.

The villain was really villainous without feeling like a caricature of one and after the epilogue, I'm quite eager to find out what the pack will be facing next.

All in all, it was a very exciting journey as we followed this unseemly 'pack' as they tried to discover what and who was behind everything that was happening. The underlying element of suspense kept me on the edge of my seat and moved the book along at a fast pace. There were a few things that were predicting, but there were more that were mind-boggling, with enough twists and turns to keep me guessing up until the last moment.

I don't want to say more because this is one of those books you need to experience yourself, but I really recommend this one. Even if you're not a fan of paranormal, you won't regret picking it up!

***Quick Note: Shift was not at all what I thought it was going to be when I first picked it up. I'm used to Romance, whether it's paranormal or not is irrelevant. Shift, however, is not Romance. It has a romantic element to the story but it's very much secondary to the mystery in this case. If you are going into this book with the expectations of a shifter romance, fated Mates or a lot of between the sheets action, be warned that's not what this book is about. ***

5 Stars!

So, I have to admit something. Sometimes I get extremely anxious when I'm reading a really great book. I'm basically sitting there my stomach in knots needing to know what's going to happen so that I can actually read the book calmly. So (how I hate to admit this), I may ask someone for a spoiler. Now, this doesn't happen very often, only with really intense books but Shift had me asking my Co-Blogger for a spoiler. I was that anxious about what was going on. This book is so much fun and it's so intriguing that I locked myself away in my room just to finish it.

Chris and Lucas have such great chemistry that the sexual tension could be cut with a knife. I wanted them together so bad, you would have thought I was personally invested in their relationship (I guess technically I was). They were excellent as a couple, the banter and the way they were almost shy about their feelings at first. When they did act upon their attraction, it was sweet at first which made the anticipation all the worse. Once it got more hot and heavy it was done in a way that it fit naturally in the story without taking anything away from it.

With a great group of characters to help drive the story there are plenty of fun moments as well as some intense and unnerving moments. Mysterious and suspenseful, fun and humorous, romantic and sexy. Shift has it all and its unique story had me spellbound.

I had many theories on what was going on but couldn't quite get it right at first. As the story progressed I was able to put pieces together to figure out a little bit more. Still, I was kept guessing and excited at the potential outcomes. The final showdown was well worth the buildup.

Even though I loved the ending I am anxious for more. I definitely need more Lucas and Chris as well as the others I fell in love with. Hopefully, the next book will be available soon because Shelley Greyson has a new fan.

Author Bio

Shelley Grayson grew up on a riverbank in a microscopic town, and now lives in a slightly bigger town with a rescue cat she didn't really want and now can't imagine life without. When she's not writing, she's wishing her daughter's college wasn't so far away. If she's not wearing her glasses, she probably won't recognize you, even if you plop down in her lap. And then you'd be blocking the TV, where she's probably watching old episodes of MST3K and Star Trek.

She loves gay romance, adores werewolves and other paranormal creatures, and doesn't want to bother if there's not a happy ending.

Shelley also writes contemporary gay romance as S.K. Grayson.
