Release Date: March 31st 2017

When Roanne Frazier is thrown into a dangerous world she knows nothing about, the only one she can count on is the only person who has ever let her down.
Blood and bullets are part of the game for Jensen Stone. Being President of the Twisted Mayhem MC means sometimes business requires bloodshed and Stone has no problem getting his hands dirty. Known for being fearless and ruthless in his tactics, his main goal is doing all he can to better his club and his town. Though it is easy to be reckless when you have nothing to lose.
The world as they know it is about to be turned upside down. The pain of their pasts collides with the chaos of the present and sends the tension building between them into overdrive, proving that some things don't fizzle out with time. Secrets are revealed, lives are changed, and the small town of Legion Falls, Tennessee will never be the same.
Will Ro and Stone find a way to hold onto each other while everything comes crashing down around them? Or will they be torn apart good by their need for retaliation?

3 Stars

Having witnessed her father's death in a car explosion Roanne is thrown into a world she has no clue how to navigate. Her only help comes in the form of a dangerous and unrelenting Jensen Stone, President of the Twisted Mayhem MC. The two have a long and complicated history but when Jensen walked out of Roanne's life without explanation, Roanne figured he'd be out of her life for good. Now he's back and he's put her under his club's protection while they figure everything out.

Retaliation was my first book by Cat Mason and I found it entertaining. I'm a sucker for a good MC book and loved the blurb. When the story begins I was actually a little overwhelmed with all that started going on. There's a lot of different things at play here and I had to really concentrate to keep it straight.

I really wasn't a huge fan of Roanne in the beginning and I struggled trying to actually connect with her character. I liked that she could be so strong but she had a tendency of not thinking things through completely. I grew to understand her a little more and warmed up to her character. However, I never fully felt like she was the best heroine.

Jensen was very much the typical Alpha Biker so there were definitely moments I wanted to punch him in the junk and then other times I wanted to hug him. He's definitely not a Prince Charming, though and at parts I found myself rolling my eyes at his behavior. He's complicated for sure and it makes their relationship complicated as well.

I liked the secondary characters even if there seemed to be so many I couldn't keep up sometimes. I really enjoyed Schrader and I am anxious for his story as well as Jinks. As the first book in a series, I always expect some bumps and while I didn't find myself absolutely loving this story, I'll be sure to check out the next book.
