The Case of the Cupid Curse

Sam Enderson is a human detective who inherits a building from where his Uncle used to run a detective agency. He finds himself working for paranormal creatures despite his resolve to stick with humans only. To supplement his income as a new PI Sam rents out rooms in the large house.

Bob is a vampire and turns up on Sam's doorstep to rent a room. Sparks fly and Sam is attracted to the vampire despite himself.

Sam is cursed by a witch, and has two cases landing on his desk. Werewolves, annoying ghosts and a grumpy gargoyle are enough to drive Sam mad. But somehow in amongst all of this he has to find a missing fae and a missing shifter child.

The Case of the Wicked Wolf

Naiads, humans, sirens and a challenge for Alpha make up the intricate story in the race to rescue the missing children.

Sam and Bob have more than just the case of one lost child to handle. Not only is Shelby Hartman missing, but other paranormal children have disappeared. The race to rescue the children is hampered by naiads, humans, sirens and a challenge for Alpha.

Hartman Hunter is desperate to find his daughter. He turns to the demon Danjal Naamah for help. The problem is that Danjal is the only person Hartman has ever loved—the man he let go for the sake of the pack…

"...With stories that are written by more than one author, there are sometimes gaps in the flow of the writing. There are none here. The writing flows smoothly and seamlessly I wouldn't be able to tell you who wrote what. The world describe within the story was easily imagined as where the characters...."

The Case of the Cupid Curse

Sam inherited a house and a PI business from his uncle and after getting his PI license, he's determined to make the best of it. What he didn't count on was on being targeted by mainly paranormal clients, which is not exactly to his liking. Especially after a witch places a Cupid curse on him, having to deal with a new vampire tenant who seems very interested in him and the parade of supernatural creatures that live in the house.

I really enjoyed the start of the series. Sam is very likable and the situations he gets himself into were very entertaining, but the one I loved the most was Bob, the vampire, while I wasn't too sure of his motives at first, the way he threw himself into helping Sam just won me over.

The supporting cast, the gargoyle and the ghost living at Sam's house and Mikhail, Bob's best friend, were all amazing. The cases Sam was working on, the missing fae and the missing shifter girl, were very intriguing and while this book ends up in a cliffhanger, I had the next one waiting for me, so I didn't really mind.

The Case of the Wicked Wolf

Sam has a new lead to find and hopefully rescue Hartman Hunter's daughter, his relationship with Bob keeps growing and Sam's reputation as a PI earns him both allies and enemies.

Hartman Hunter is the Alpha of his pack, and because of them, he's already had to give up the only person he's ever loved. Now his daughter Shelby is missing and he turns to Dan for help, but after the way he ended things with the demon, would he want to help him?

This book was a bit of an unexpected pleasure. It was fun and entertaining, just as the first book was, but we get to follow Sam and Bob and also Hart and Dan. While the book isn't long, the authors manage to not only give us Hart and Dan's backstory and their second chance at making things right, but a continuation to Sam and Bob's story and a very good case that kept me devouring the pages as it unfolded.

I'm looking forward to reading and reviewing the next volume in the series, so keep tuned!

This was such a fun read but a little wacky. I have to say that I wasn't quite sure how I felt about Bob at the beginning. I was kind of expecting him to turn out to be one of the bad guys. Of course, he grew on me and I found him to be endearing.  As far as Sam goes, I loved him. He had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. And I am so anxious to see what he turns out to be.

The stories were well written and flowed very well together so it felt more like one.  I've always enjoyed RJ Scott but haven't had a lot of opportunities to read Amber Kell. I definitely plan to check out more of her stories.  I can't wait to finish the rest of the series and see what Sam and Bob get up to.

Author Bios

Amber Kell has made a career out of daydreaming. It has been a lifelong habit she practices diligently as shown by her complete lack of focus on anything not related to her fantasy world building.

When she told her husband what she wanted to do with her life, he told her to go have fun.
During those seconds she isn't writing, she remembers she has children who humor her with games of "what if" and let her drag them to foreign lands to gather inspiration. Her youngest confided in her that he wants to write because he longs for a website and an author name—two things apparently necessary to be a proper writer.

Despite her husband's insistence she doesn't drink enough to be a true literary genius, she continues to spin stories of people falling happily in love and staying that way.

She is thwarted during the day by a traffic jam of cats on the stairway and a puppy who insists on walks, but she bravely perseveres.
