Unfortunately, I did not enjoy Urban Fairy Tale as much as I hoped that I would. I tried quite hard to get into the book but found it difficult to actually stay connected to the story.  While this is a cute combination of wit and fantasy adventure, it is definitely a story that you need to be able to keep a myriad of characters and plot points straight in your mind.  Urban Fairy Tale is definitely not a book that can be read as a standalone, as it is the third in the series, and you need to read the previous two books first. 

Taylor (a male Sleeping Beauty) and Corentin (the Huntsman) are again a refreshing take on a modern day fairy tale where the classics are flipped on its head and reimagined.  I liked that aspect of the story. It's fun to see characters we loved as children in a new and fun adult story. Gender swap, intermingled stories, characters modernized, it's a whole new tale.  Lex Chase gives us a well written unique and creative story. 

If you're a fan of the previous two books I definitely recommend Urban Fairy Tale. If you are new to the series read the first two books first.
