Duke stepped closer, flattening Samantha against the wall, leaning down to talk at her temple. “Maybe you’re the hottest thing I’ve ever seen.” He dropped an arm, sliding it beneath her ass and boosting her up. The tight proximity of their bodies caused the upper half of her dress to slide down, revealing two perfect mounds topped with raspberry-colored peaks. Duke’s cock jerked with a surge of lust, fighting the fly of his jeans to gain freedom. There was something…corrupt about having an angry girl topless in his hallway while a party was in full swing outside. A girl whose eyes continued to spit fire at him, even though her inner thighs rubbed restlessly against his hips. “When men think of putting their mouths on a woman’s tits, they don’t picture themselves sucking gently. Grumpy bear Duke only gets grumpier when Samantha Waverly enters the bar he's in, drawing every man's attention, including his, toward her. They hit it off as soon as they start talking, bonding over Samantha's bad jokes, her sketching talent and the attraction that neither of them can deny, despite the two of them being commitment-phobes.
A chance encounter the next day, only brings them closer and before they know it, they are getting married so Duke can help Sam with her brother. But will a marriage in those circumstances ever work?
I liked Duke, he was strong and reliable, very supportive of his 4 divorcee sisters and his friend Vaugh and his family, who all lived with him. I just wasn't that fond of how much of a caveman he turned into in regard to Sam, not that she was complaining... much. I kind of liked Sam. She was sweet and quirky. I liked that she was herself and didn't care if others liked her jokes or not. I liked the chemistry between Sam and Duke, for the most part. Although I have to admit that some of the sex scenes were a bit over the top and cheesy for my taste.
All in all, it was an okay read. I'm not sure if it's just me, but I found the writing a bit choppy in some parts, even if it was fine overall. Would I read it again? Probably not. Would I recommend it? Well, maybe. I don't read all that many MF books any longer, so perhaps some others might enjoy this book. It just wasn't for me.
