Blurb

Recovering addict Jamie Yorke has returned to England from California. With no home or family to speak of, he sticks a pin in a map and finds a small town in the Derbyshire Peak District. Matlock Bath is a quiet place—he just needs to get there, keep his head down, and stay clean. Simple, right? Until a chance meeting on the flight home alters the course of his so-called life forever.

Ex-Army medic Marc Ramsey is recovering from life-changing combat injuries while pulling nights as a trauma specialist at the local hospital. Keeping busy is a habit he can’t quit, but when Jamie—so wild and beautiful—bursts into his life, working himself into the ground isn’t as compelling as it used to be.

?Marc falls hard, but chaos lurks behind Jamie’s fragile facade. He’s winning his battle against addiction, but another old foe is slowly consuming him. Both men have weathered many storms, but the path to the peace they deserve might prove the roughest ride yet.

Review: Rented Heart

4.5 Stars

I’ve had this book for quite some time, and just never found the time to sit down and read it, but since the next book in the series is about to release, I figured it was about time I made time in my schedule for it. I’m so glad I did.

I absolutely loved Liam and Zac, although to be honest the first couple of sex scenes, while hot, scared me a bit. They headed into the hurt side of BDSM, and that is so not my thing, but it wasn’t that severe and the sex scenes were still smoking hot and enjoyable.

My heart broke for both Liam and Zac. Liam, well, I can’t even imagine the loss of a loved one. Someone you thought you had a long future ahead of you with and loved almost more than life itself. It’s so heartbreaking. While I felt for the situation Zac was in, I was also proud of him, too. Although forced to sell himself to survive, he has managed to stay clean for 6 months, while still living with his best friend Jamie, who isn’t clean. That’s an amazing feat. I loved his determination, I just wish he’d had more self-worth. A little piece of me shattered every time he called himself a whore and put himself down for what he had to do to survive.

But together these two men found happiness and a future they could build together. They had amazing chemistry and you could feel the love between them coming off the pages of the book.

As always with this author, the story is well-written and it drew me in, not letting go until the last page. If I had one complaint, it was that the ending felt a bit rushed. I wish it had been stretched out a bit more over a longer period of time, rather than putting it all into the epilogue, but still, it was a great ending. I’m looking forward to moving onto Soul to Keep, Jamie’s story, and hopefully, we’ll catch glimpses of Zac and Liam there.

This was an enjoyable read that was filled with heartbreak and angst, but also friendship and love. Highly recommended!

I was intrigued by Jamie when I met him in Rented Heart and I was really excited to see him get his HEA and Ms. Leigh didn’t disappoint.

I liked Jamie and I thought the author handled his struggles with his addiction and OCD realistically. While I liked Jamie, at times I wasn’t sure what to think of his feelings towards Marc. He threw off such mixed signals for such a long time. Now Marc, I absolutely loved. I loved that he was so patient with Jamie and so understanding. He never pushed him and he gave him the space and time he needed.

This was a slow burn, especially for this author, whose books usually move pretty quickly into the bedroom, but I liked the progression of their relationship. It felt natural and organic and it was right for them and while slow, once they gave in, they set the sheets on fire.

The story, as with all the books I’ve read by this author, drew me in and kept me turning the pages. I love her writing style, and while the subject matters may not always be easy to read about, her books are always an easy read. (I hope that makes sense)

This was a great addition to the series, unfortunately, we didn’t see as much of Liam and Zac as I would have liked, but I enjoyed catching up with them just a bit.

Also, there is a secondary character that we just get a quick glimpse of, but I’m really hoping Ms. Leigh will give him a voice. *hint hint, nudge nudge*

Soul to Keep was an enjoyable read and I can definitely recommend it!
