“And number three…kiss me.”
“Kiss you?”  He snorted.
It was too late now to take it back.
“Yes.”
He chuckled to himself, “I should’ve known.”
“Known what?”
He came at me, more willingly than I expected.
“Is that what it is?”  The nerves returned, being this close to him would forever make me uneasy.  “How’s the ribcage?”  He pretended like he would touch me, I flinched and guarded the sore area.
“What do you think?”  I groaned, “it hurts like a bitch.”  I couldn’t bring myself to make eye contact, he was standing so close.  Any closer and I would’ve felt his body heat.  He snatched up my face and forced me to look him in the eyes.
“Hey?!”  I panicked.  His fingers went from my chin to around my neck.  I put one shaky hand on his wrist fearing he’d strangle me.  Instead he leaned down until our lips touched.  He didn’t close his eyes and I couldn’t even if I tried.  The silence in the room was deafening.
Just mouth on mouth, a dry kiss.

I'm not sure how to rate this. The writing was really good. The story was fast paced and though it was really out there and kind of off the wall, it was still intriguing and drew me in. Like a bad accident, I couldn't look away. As out there as some of the events that took place were, I can actually imagine some of it happening in some middle America high school. Kids are very different than when I went to high school. I remember getting on the streetcar one day and my kids saying it smelled like weed. I asked "How do you know what weed smells like?" I was promptly informed that the kids at their school smoked it in the stairwells, so yes, very different than when I went to school.

The characters were interesting and well developed. They all grew and matured over the course of the story.

This book was very different than what I normally read, it wasn't a romance per se, although there are touches of romance in the story. It was still a quick and intriguing read.
