BLURB: Summoned from the past, Konu rises naked from the sea to reclaim his power for the freedom to live—and love. If the forces of evil don’t get to him first!

On a hot day in Waikiki, beachgoers are stunned when a tall, handsome man rises from the ocean. Striding naked to a small, ringed enclosure containing four huge stones most tourists never even notice, he becomes visibly upset. These are Wizard Stones, positioned between the beach and the foot traffic on Kalakaua Avenue. Konu, the naked man, is agitated by a young Asian girl draping her beach towel over the stones. He's come a long way, from Tahiti, and is one of the ancient wizards whose power was infused into these sacred stones four hundred years ago.

With the invisible battle between good and evil raging, Konu has been dispatched to help balance the power. Landing in modern-day Waikiki, he's stunned by the changes – and to find he is alone. A cop tries to arrest him for indecent exposure but the young girl's grandfather – who thinks Konu's a homeless lunatic offers him refuge. Will the ancient forces of evil beat this wizard in Waikiki? Or can Konu find his power again, and perhaps…even love?

Publisher’s note: This book was previously published. It has been edited and re-released with Ai Press.

 Excerpt

A man opened the door and came out to greet them. He seemed very nice. He was handsome, with dark brown hair and eyes the color of sand after a long, hard rain.
"He has to do a drug test," the man said, not addressing Konu, but Takahashi.
"I don't think he's been taking drugs," Takahashi said.
"Please… do not leave me here." Konu hated the low-level energies he felt pouring out of the building. Souls in agony. Their screaming hurt his ears.
"You'll be fine," Takahashi said, patting his hand. "Jason is a good guy. He can help you." He turned and ran.
Konu watched. "He did not even say farewell."
"Yeah, well, he's busy. Come on in. Now, you're gonna have to take a urine test. We have a lot of rules, so listen up." Jason pointed at his feet. "You got shoes, brah?"
"Brah? My name is Konu."
"Okay, Konu. You got shoes?"
"Shoes?"
Jason rolled his eyes. "For your feet?"
"No."
"You got ID?"
"ID?"
"Oh, brother. A real lulu." Jason beckoned him. "Come on in."
Inside the building, Konu felt impossibly large. He sat in a chair that felt very small.
"Take this bottle and pee in it."
Konu gaped at him. "Why?"
"A urine test. I just told you."
"Oh." He stood and started lowering his sweat pants.
"Not here, dufus. In there."
Jason pointed to a door with a sign saying Kane. He knew this meant 'men'. He went inside and closed the door, but the foul odor almost gagged him. He figured out how to pee enough to fill the bottle, rushing out of the room again.
"Pull your pants up," Jason barked.
Konu handed over the bottle and yanked up his pants, sitting down in the small chair again.
"What's your last name?" Jason asked.
"My last name? Konu. I have had this name as long as I remember. I don't remember my previous life."
"What? Listen, dufus. I mean your last name. Konu… what?"
"What?" Konu felt confused by the man's short temper.
He heard a faint chirping sound and followed the noise to a cage. A small yellow bird peered at him. It chirped again. He chirped back. The bird was healthy but unhappy.
"Your bird would like some fruit. You used to give her apples. When did you stop?"
Jason stared at him. "How did…?" He glanced at the cage.
"She just told me."
Jason rolled his eyes again. "You speak bird, do you?"
Konu smiled. "She speaks bird. I listen." The bird chirped again, making Konu laugh.
"She said the other man gave her apples. The nice man. She wants to know where the nice man is."
Jason's eyes started to water. "She… told you that?"
Konu nodded. "Yes."
"That was my father. She was his bird. He died last year. I had no idea what he fed her… I brought her here, though, because I work all the time… and I thought she wanted company."
"She enjoys your company." Konu smiled, listening to the bird's chatter. "She misses the music your father played." He began to hum the tune the bird twittered to him.
"Oh, my God. Don Ho. My father loved him. He used to play in his band until Mr Ho became ill. When his heart started failing, he scaled down his shows. I swear that's when my father began to falter."
Jason squeezed his eyes shut with his fingers. "This isn't happening."
Konu didn't know how to respond to the man's words. The bird kept chirping at him.
"Make it stop," Jason whined.
