My thoughts on this book are, it was different, yet similar compared to what I'm used to from Ashley. Different in that most of the time the romance doesn't happen until the very end of the story. The main characters of Ashley's books usually spend most of the story running from one another. I was happily surprised to see Caden and Elias' sparks fly quite quickly. And sparks there were, actually more like explosions. These guys were HOT together, and the chemistry was electrical. I loved that both these men were sweet, loving and supportive of one another.
I will be honest and say, when I read the synopsis I was expecting a dark and gritty read. I sat down ready to have my stomach in knots. I was waiting for an angst filled, heart pounding read. What I got was a kind of light and fluffy read, especially compared to what I'm used to from Ashley. It had angst, just not "Ashley angst". Don't get me wrong, it was an amazing read, just surprising.
Yet this book was similar, in that it takes place in small town USA, with the angst coming from small town politics.
This was a great read with well developed characters. Like all the rest of Ashley's books, this was well written and flowed well. The characters were likable, and you couldn't help but root for them, and there was even some steamy sex along the way. Another 5 star read from the highly talented young man!
