Can a tabby cat with an appetite for silicone toys bring together a lonely computer programmer and a tattooed veterinarian looking for love?
Grant Murchison is a computer programmer with a great job, a small house he’s fixing up, and a mischievous tabby cat named Molly. Doctor Brodie Hall is a veterinarian with a sleeve full of tattoos and an enormous mastiff named Ruby.
When Molly gets sick after nibbling on Grant’s favorite purple toy, he rushes her to the vet clinic where the doctor works. Grant’s embarrassed to admit what Molly ate, but Brodie finds Grant’s reaction charming.
Brodie decides to pursue Molly’s owner, but getting close to Grant is a bigger challenge than he anticipated. Despite Grant’s attraction to the vet, his past leaves him unable to trust in a future together. Doc Brodie may be great with scared and hurting animals but will his techniques work on Grant?

When Grant's cat, Molly decides she wants to use Grant's sex toy as her personal chew toy they end up at the emergency vet in the middle of the night. Of course, the vet would be tall, dark, handsome, and well, Grant's ultimate dream man.
Grant is a sweet, shy and geeky computer programmer, and when you start to dig a little deeper, he's slightly damaged from his last boyfriend, who was a complete twat. His ex made him feel bad about himself, his wants and his needs. He was mentally abusive and cruel at times. Brodie is the polar opposite of Grant's ex. He's sweet and caring, and sets Grant at ease, but can Grant really trust him?
Grant and Brodie were adorable together. The story isn't long, and it takes place over a pretty short period of time. It's sort of insta feelings, but the author did a good job at not making it feel rushed. The story is well-written, and the characters lovable, including the four legged ones. They had great chemistry. This was a quick and really enjoyable read!
When computer programmer Grant Murchison rushes his tabby cat Molly to the vet, he was in no way prepared to come face to face with a walking fantasy in the form of Doctor Brodie Hall. To make matters worse he has to embarrassingly admit that Molly had been chewing on his favorite purple toy. However, he is relieved when the vet doesn’t make him feel completely humiliated.
Doctor Brodie can’t get the intriguing Grant out of his head. It’s been a long time since he’d felt this kind of attraction. While walking his enormous mastiff Ruby, Brodie stumbles into a date with Grant and the two have an amazing time. Brodie is excited with the prospect of getting to know Grant and possibly beginning something wonderful.
Brodie soon finds that Grant has quite a few walls up around his heart. Grant has been let down too many times in the past and trusting a new man is harder than he thought. Now Brodie is determined to find a way to knock down any wall Grant hides behind.
Well, first of all, I was embarrassed on Grant's behalf. How he was able to be honest and tell a veterinarian that his beloved cat was eating a sex toy and she is now sick because of it, I can’t even imagine. He definitely proved his love for his pet. On a positive note, they’ll have a great “meet cute” story to tell friends and family...well, maybe not.
I liked Brodie, he knows what he wants and he goes for it. No games, my favorite. He seemed to like Grant from the very beginning and he was interested in getting to know Grant and not just getting into his pants. Grant is cute and sweet, just a little more skittish than Brodie. I liked the two together though and thought they had great chemistry.
I definitely liked Doc Brodie and the Big Purple Cat Toy. It was a fast paced, easy read with just a little bit of angst and a great amount of sweet! I definitely recommend it.
