Never judge a sexy man by his cover.

Detective Beau Williams is hard-working, dedicated, and professional. He enjoys the finer things in life, but with his heavy caseload that includes what Beau suspects is a new serial killer, he has no time to enjoy much of anything. What the tall redhead needs is someone to shake him up a little.

Investigative Technician Austin Kent never met a snarky joke he didn’t like - or a set of stairs that couldn’t trip him up. One night after a devastating episode at work, Austin sees something else he likes - the handsome detective he’s seen around the station whom he’s always wondered about. But after he makes a drunken fool of himself in front of Detective Williams, he’s sure there’s no hope.

Beau and Austin’s worlds collide right away when Austin is sent to pick up some evidence at the station. Amidst a myriad of twists and turns in the troubling serial killer style murders of Vegas conventioneers, Austin and Beau discover that there’s more to the other than they’d originally thought. There might even be more they’d like to give – unless the killer has the final say.

Excerpt:

Beau had no problem remembering where Austin lived, so he didn’t have to wake him until the last moment. They reached his place and Beau pulled into the empty space next to Austin’s SUV. He put his car in park but left the engine running. He reached over to squeeze Austin’s arm, helping to ease him awake.

“Hey, Austin. We’re at your condo.”

He jerked awake with a snort. “Oh shit. Sorry, man. I was supposed to keep you from falling asleep.”

Beau chuckled, rubbing Austin’s arm. “You did a great job for most of the way. It’s not yet eight thirty. I hope that leaves you enough time to get ready for work.”

Austin stretched his arms in front of him with a big yawn. “Yeah. Perfect.”

He regarded Beau, a hopeful expression crossing his features. Beau smiled in reassurance.

“Is it okay if I kiss you out here?” Beau glanced around their surroundings with a slight nod of his head.

“Very okay. I’m not concerned what people think.”

Beau grinned. “Good. Me neither. C’mere.”

Austin scooched closer, but Beau kept his hand around Austin’s waist so he didn’t jab himself with the gear shift the way he’d done before. They shared a leisurely kiss, Beau sucking on Austin’s tongue as he pulled away.

He let out a small sigh. It was disconcerting to have the sharp contrast between the happy feelings with Austin and the gut - wrenching ones from the serial killer case.

If only that officer hadn’t barged in when he did…

“Hey. Everything okay?”

Austin stared at him, his brow scrunched up. Beau cradled his jaw, brushing his thumb over Austin’s pronounced stubble.

“Still pissed about last night at the station.”

“Sorry that happened. That guy was a dick.”

Beau chuckled. “Yes, he was.” He stole a quick peck on Austin’s lips before letting go. “But I have you to thank for prying information out of the officer at the front desk. That was amazing.”

He didn’t want to leave, but they both had to forge ahead with the day.

“So…”

Austin twisted his fingers together in his lap, a pained look on his face. There was something about the guy that made Beau want to wrap him up, take him home and keep him there.

Slow down, Williams.
