Starr Media Second-Assistant Survival Guide
1. Don’t call your hot boss the antichrist to his face.
2. Don’t stare at hot boss’s, um, package or his full sleeve of tattoos. (No. Really. Stop!)
3. Don’t get on the malicious first assistant’s bad side.
4. Don’t forget to memorize the 300-page employee manual.
5. If you value your cashmere, steer clear of boss’s dog.
6. Boss’s dimples are lust-inducing. Do. Not. Give. In.
7. “The elevator ate your clothes” is not a valid excuse for showing up to important meetings half dressed.
8. Don’t break seven of the rules within the first week of employment if you, ya know, are in dire need of money to support your sick mom.
9. Whatever you do, don’t fall for the boss. See rule eight about sick mom.
10. Never forget the rules.

Lainey just got hired as the second assistant to Brogan Starr, Starr Media's CEO, and she's over the moon. Or she'd be if she didn't have to learn the gazillion rules contained in the company's Rule Book and deal with the first assistant from hell. Still, it's a dream first job and now she'll able to help her mom with her chemo costs. What she didn't count on was on having a walking wet dream as a boss or that they'd hit it off so great.
I loved the blurb, it was hilarious! I loved some of the rules with which the chapters started, too. I adored Bruce, Brogan's dog, he was the star of the book, truly!
I liked Brogan, although I would've liked to see more of him and Lainey together. Yes, he was quick to make assumptions, but really, it wasn't like he'd really known Lainey for that long and with what we learned about his father, well, you can't really judge him all that hard. I also liked Lainey's commitment to helping her mom. I really liked that she was willing to sacrifice for someone that had been there for her all along.
The book is well-written and funny in parts, even if just a tad predictable, there were some things that didn't quite work for me, but that doesn't mean that others wouldn't enjoy it.
Rating: 3 Stars!
