After the death of his best-friend and bandmate, Trent, Devlin can’t bring himself to play anymore, but he also doesn’t want to just waste away in his home alone, so he decides, at the age of 41, to go back college. There he meets his professor, Jack Johnson. Jack doesn’t particularly like his new student, Devlin, but when he realizes the two have met in the past, a meeting that ended badly for him, his dislike for Devlin grows. They begin to warm up to one another and finally give into the attraction, but Jack is keeping a secret that could derail their relationship before it even starts.
I liked the story and I liked Jack and Devlin, but something was missing for me. I wanted the story to move along and I continually found myself skimming ahead to get to some character interaction and dialogue. There was a lot of inner-dialogue and character thought. The characters spent a lot of time in their heads throughout the story, time that could have better been spent getting to know each other.
I loved the storyline and I thought Delvin and Jack had good chemistry, but I wish the author had given them more page time as a couple. All in all, the story was enjoyable, I just wanted more. Still, recommendable!
