Would It Be Okay To Love You (Book #1)
Blurb
Sato’s only long-term relationship is the one he shares with his Gundam collectibles. He dreams about the kind of unconditional love his parents enjoy. If only he could break out of his shell, he might find his special someone…
Outgoing playboy Aoi has sworn off relationships. He knows they only distract him from his budding voice acting career. He’s earned a few loyal fans, and if he keeps at it, he may even earn enough to never worry about being evicted again…
When Sato meets Aoi at the local anime store, there’s definitely a spark. But even as they tread carefully, their commitment issues and Aoi’s troubled past soon muck things up before they can start. In order for Sato and Aoi to have their happily-ever-after, they’ll both have to take a leap of faith… and hope to be caught.
Would It Be Okay to Love You? is the first book in a gay romance series set in Japan. If you like original characters, nerd culture, and simmering chemistry, then you’ll love Amy Tasukada’s charming multicultural love story.
3.75 Stars!
Sato is a shy, closeted, virgin accountant who loves Gundam collectibles with a passion. Aoi is an outgoing, erotic voice actor, who doesn't quite believe in relationships and is afraid of not making enough money on the month to cover his rent and having to rely on his best friend again, or worse, end up on the street. Can these two very different young men find love and their HEA?
I loved Sato. He was so sweet and supportive. I would've liked if he'd actually stood his ground and didn't let Aoi walk over him best, but that would have been out of character for him, I guess. I wasn't too sure how I felt about Aoi, to be honest. For one part, I could understand why he was afraid to let Sato in, but he truly proved himself over and over (and over again). I liked them together, I could feel their connection.
This was a well-written, entertaining read, for the most part. The ending was a bit rushed and I felt like the author could have spent some time tying up the loose ends and less in some parts of the book that dragged a bit. However, I think if you are a fan of Japanese mangas, animes or doramas, you'd enjoy Would It Be Okay to Love You. Recommendable!
